...The first proper tour for The Black Parade is well underway, with the band playing in Philidelphia tonight. MCR have also announced a Canadian tour for May (I do believe), check the official website for details.
According to reviews of the current tour, which kicked off in Manchester (in the US, not the UK city...), it's incredible. Obviously. If you want to read a bit about what's going on over there then scroll down, or if you'd rather find out for yourself press back and occupy yourself with something else :]
We all remember Gerard saying a few months back that they wanted to do something really theatrical, and this tour is more than what we were expecting. With giant sets, props, costumes and particularily interesting drawn-on sideburns for Gerard, the whole thing is set to make whatever show you American kids are trotting off to, the best in your life.
The show opens with 'The End' (obv.), with the curtain down and a gurney wheeled on stage. Gerard climbs off of the gurney, singing, rips off his hospital gown to reveal full Black Parade uniform, and BAM! Curtains down - HI FRANK RAY MIKEY BOB!
Lots of groping and hip twisting fro Gerard, and a new haircut w/ huge fringe from Frank which actually looks amazingly good, and Mikey has this little mohawk thing going on.
The whole stage is covered with stars - stars on the amps, stars on the backdrop... just think the inside poster of the album booklet - and for Welcome To The Black Parade, they even bring in blimps... MOTHERFUCKING BLIMPS MAYTEE!
Famous Last Words and Mama use a lot of pyrotechnics, of course, and finally the band leave the stage to the song Blood playing over the PA (just like at Brixton *swoon*). And you think it's all over... I mean, what do they have for an encore?
And BAM! The curtain falls again. And suddenly the revenge banner is up, and BANG! Leather jackets, tight black shirts, crazy-ass fro, eyeliner, side-zipped-jackets... REVENGE LIVES ON! And on comes a torrent of 2004-era good stuff; almost the whole second album. And lots of messing around.
And finally, it's over.
£2 for the person that guesses the very last song they play (because it's always the same, always... but we wouldn't have it any other way).
A bit creepy that I can write a very, very basic plot of each show that's happening about 5 hours backwards on the other side of the world every day or so :]]
But that's that.
Now lets hope the UK has the same thing coming for March!
xoxo
